This term is my first term to study multimedia. We’ve learned about how to research that using technology and digital tools effectively and efficiently, InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and introduction to programming. I have improved a lot about the multimedia skills that I just mentioned above.

On the first week, we learned about researching skill. Researching skill helps us to find the answer we want easily and sometimes it may guide to the answer you may or may not expect. I could more some useful tips to do research such as using specific words that are unique to your topic, using quotation marks to search for specific phrases and using And, Or, Not.

Later after we learned about InDesign, Photoshop and Lightroom, I created a one page poster in InDesign. In that poster, it included an image I edited in Photoshop and an image on Lightroom. My topic in the poster was about Eiffel tower. I have been researching about that. By the way, I could learn about the Adobe skills and researching skills.

On the last week, We learned about algorithm which one of the most interesting concepts about this class. We did different activities throughout this course. Algorithm is the instructions that help to calculate the answer to a problem with a limited of time by using efficient formula. An example of an algorithm we worked on in class this week, is about n(n+1)/2. It is the algorithm of solving the problem that was about finding the sum of 1 to 200 which means find the sum of adding 1+2+3……+200.n stand for the biggest number of the problem had given which is 200. We take 200 plus 1, time with 200 and then divide by 2. Then, we will the find the answer.

Another algorithm that we’ve learned is about divide and conquer which help to calculate the answer to an problem. For example, when the whole number we want to solve might be too big, so we need to break it up into equal two parts and then divide it into half and half again. So that we can find an algorithm to our problem.

Khmer Literacy

In Khmer class, we learn many things which related to Khmer language such as about writing in Khmer, description, poetry, listening, reading and more. I have plenty of improvements on this class including spelling and structure of writing. Learning Khmer is very very important for me because I am Cambodian so I need to know and learn about my own culture.

In Khmer class, one of the project we did is about writing poetry. There are many types of poetry in Khmer and in which poem we have different positions of rhyming words. I’ve accomplished a poem which is the style called “ Puchung Lilea”. I’ve written over 40 lines on this poem. Throughout this work, I’ve learned many concepts from it such as how to write, putting emotion to the real situation and more. The main idea of my poem is about education, how it influence to your future, yourself and your country and some of the encouragement words to work hard in life. I hope that this poem is a part that could guidance people act in affirmative ways.

Community Documentary Exploration

  • With the view of the rice field

Community Documentary was a exploration which documents information in rural communities. The goal was to documents the necessary informations because we want next generation to see what have been changed and developed in their community. We have four products to the communities such as creating blog, photo book, video and podcast. We collaborated with the World Renew’s youth which is the organization that helps to develop the communities that we are working on. We interviewed many villagers and we focus on different categories such as development, economic, human life, history and more. We went to four villages in Kampong Speu province.

During our exploration, we went to the villages three times. The first time, we went to absorb and think of what we want to do as our products which was pre trip.  I feel that the community that I went is very strange from mine because it is a rural area. We interviewed many people and I figured out that their life is different and more difficult that the people in my community.  At night time, we spend our time in Camkids with is a school. We did networking, communicate, sharing experience and play some games with the Camkids students.The second, we went to interviewed people again about each different themes which we have planned. And the third, we went to share our products and do the presentation about what we have done for the villages. There were many people come to watch our presentation and they impressed about what we did.

As a part of this explorations, I’ve learn about how how people live in rural village, creating blog skill, the experience working with world Renew’s students, presentation skill and collaboration in the group. I feel very comfortable in this exploration and learned many many things including skills and experiences during the exploration. During the trip, I could know more about the people life and the way they live in rural communities. I am proud of myself of being a part of helping and keeping the important information to get the next generation to know in the communities in my country.
